Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  Does a chain come with the pendant?

Yes, everything comes ready to wear. If you wish to choose, you can specify 18” or 24” chain. Do so in the questions area of the order blank.

2.  Can I get ear wires instead of post drops?

Yes, just add your request in the questions area of the order blank.

3.  Can I get clips instead of screw type earrings?

Yes, just add your request in the questions area of the order blank. This can only be done with the drops. The ones that don’t drop are soldered and cannot be changed.

4.  Why do the earrings cost so much more?

There are two of the same figure, requiring the same amount of work for each.

5.  How come the pewter isn’t shiny?

We like the antique look. Therefore we age it in acid, then polish it to bring out the detail.

6.  How do I clean the pieces?

If you take good care of it, like you should any jewelry, you shouldn’t need to clean it. However, the acid in some people’s skin may cause the lacquer to wear away and it may look darker. You can buff it out first by being sure all the lacquer is gone. Remove it with your nail polish remover. Be sure the lacquer is completely gone, then clean it with some tooth paste and a tooth brush in lukewarm water. After the pewter has completely dried, you can relacquer it with clear nail polish.

7.  What do I do if the pewter piece breaks?

Although we all like to think we are perfect, no one really is. We try to do our best. Since the pieces are each individually cast and finished, there will be a little difference between each. If a piece does break, you can return it to me and I will replace it. That reminds me of when I was doing the art show circuit. Every year the same boy would come to my booth to show me that his chain was broken. The pewter piece was fine. I would just give him a new chain. After several years of this, I suggested that he use a cord. He thought that was a great idea. I gave him a large jump ring and he went merrily off to find a cord.

8.  If I want something you don't have listed, how can I get it?  Like, you have pendants but no keyring and I would like a keyring.

Any of the items that are removable, (pendants, ear drops, keyrings, etc.) can be swapped.  I can do that.  Just let me know in the questions area.  Posts and screws without the word drop cannot be changed.  Neither can tietacs, pinbacks, bolo backs, stickpins.  Those have all been soldered and cannot be changed.  You could ask and I might find what you want in a corner of the storeroom or shop, but cannot guarantee that.  At present we have no one working to make more.  Perhaps at a later date we will be able to continue that operation.

9.  Does the tietac come with a chain?

The tietac will not come with a chain unless you specifically ask for one in the questions area.  The ladies wear many of the tacs on their collars and we also find that they are good for children as they cannot get them off their clothes by yanking.  When they yank on their chains, they may break.  Tietacs don't.  And they seem to go through the wash on the same clothing over and over.
